I love to read. I do a lot of it, I’m happy to say, and always have. I love falling into another world, other people’s lives, problems, love, highs and lows, and know that despite being put through the wringer of live, love, and expectations, all will work out for that oh-so-satisfying happily ever after. Here are some of the books I’ve really enjoyed over the past few months.
Kate SeRine’s Transplanted Tales series
This series started with Red and continued with The Better to See You and Along Came a Spider. Earlier this year, Kate released a novella called Grimm Consequences, a continuation or sequel featuring the hero and heroine of Red, Tess Little and Nate Grimm. With this story, Kate firmly established Nate as one of my top five all time favorite fictional heroes. This story has all the feels, all the desperate longing, facing impossible situations and making unbearable sacrifices all for the one you love. I was lucky enough to read an ARC of Kate’s most recent addition to the series, due out in August, titled Ever After, and loved it as much as the others. The transplanted tales have been my go-to rec for anyone who asks, and I’ve yet to hear back of any disappointment.
Kristen Ashley’s Colorado Mountain and The ’Burg series
Well, love or hate Kristen’s stories, but for me, they are my crack addiction. I’ve found that I can’t read more than two in a row, as there are many similarities throughout her contemporaries, and the other little idiosyncrasies start to build and become slightly irritating. But when I read one of her stories, I get sucked completely in, unable to put down, getting that swoony feeling in my stomach and heart. So I try to pace myself, which proved difficult when most of the books in the Colorado Mountain series went on sale for a dollar off, and then her entire ’Burg series went on sale for 99 cents in advance of the upcoming release in the series. Yeah, I gorged. I’ve made it though The Gamble, Sweet Dreams, Lady Luck, Breathe, Jagged, in the Colorado Mtn series, with just Kaleidoscopeto go, and For You, At Peace, andGolden Trail in The ‘Burg series with Games of the Heart left before I’ll likely break down and buy The Promise when it comes out.
A new-to-me author I discovered through a blog review when Turning Up the Heat went on sale (or free?) a couple months ago. I thoroughly enjoyed her flow, style, depth of emotion and attachment she creates with her characters and situations, the fascinating glimpse into their world, lives, and professions. When The Chocolate Rose went on sale recently, I snapped that up and found myself completely invested in Jolie and Gabriel’s story, smiling, grimacing, shaking my fist and falling in love right along with them. Definitely will be snapping up the rest of her backlist!
Hope you can check some of these out and enjoy them as much as I did! I’d love to know what you’ve read recently that sucked you in and made your knees weak with swoon – share, please!
Devouring two or ten books per week as a young’un, I was rationed books by my parents like most kids get rationed candy. So, of course I turned to writing to tide me over between fixes.
I’ve lived in the suburbs of the Mid-West, desert of the Southwest, and foothills of the Rocky Mountains. Since moving to an island in the Puget Sound with my husband and dogs, I’ve learned to play a mean game of 5-stand, catch squid, clams, shrimp, and crab. Good thing I like shellfish.
