As part of my book in a month I thought I would share a bit of the journey with all of you.
The novel I will be working on is actually a piece that my husband and I have started together and have developed. So essentially, we will be working on it. We’re only a couple days in and already it’s coming along great! Thankfully when I lack motivation he’s whooping me in the tush and vice versa for him!
Today I’ll be sharing our main character with you. As I said in my original post about the Book in a Month challenge this novel is different for me in that the main character is male. I usually enjoy writing about strong female characters and although Strype is growing on me, it’s definitely different from my norm, which I think is a great way to force myself into growing as an author. Well, enough about the back story let’s get into the character!
All About Strype
Much like my usual works this is indeed a paranormal thriller, with a bit of romance thrown in. Strype is a hybrid vampire/werewolf. He was abandoned as a child and left to discover his abilities and weaknesses on his own. Alana is the one thing that keeps him grounded, she is his tether to reality.
After a car accident Strype finds himself thrown from a vehicle and without a memory. Wandering aimlessly he meets several characters in his path to recovering his memory. As flashes come and go he needs to sort through those that are real and those that are only a figment of his imagination. With the help of a werewolf woman who has taken him under her wing will he be able to find the truth about his life, or will his secrets be too dark and deep for him to reach?
Breed: Hybrid Vampire/Werewolf
Personal Motto: “I can break that.”
Physical Type: Lean but muscular. Well defined shoulders and arms. He has the brute strength of a werewolf but doesn’t have the over-the-top muscular structure like most. Tall, about 6’4″
Face Shape: Square, well defined jaw. Hard.
Hair: Black with a silver strip through it. Short but messy, he doesn’t bother with a comb too often. Finding himself in front of a gas station bathroom mirror is where he sees what he looks like, that strip of hair is what inspires the name Strype.
Eyes: Light silver. Piercing, when he’s looking at you, you know it.
Overall Appearance: We like Sam Witwer for this role. His face shape especially, though we could stand for him to have a squarer frame. He would need some contacts and a bit of a hair do update but he’s pretty much what I envision.
- Very strong, stronger than a vampire or werewolf (no matter what form of the wolf).
- Has little to no blood lust.
- Fast healer.
- His memory.
- Quick to temper.
- Doesn’t know much about vampires, werewolves or his own hybrid self.
Diet: Although he doesn’t have to feed on blood, he discovers that vampire blood ups his abilities. He’s faster, stronger and over time may develop other strengths from the blood.
All in all Strype is damaged goods, in more than one sense of the word, fighting to try and find out the truth about what and who he is. Unfortunately for him, (though he doesn’t know it) time is a factor and if he can’t remember his past in time, his future may fade.
I hope you enjoyed this look into my Book in a Month and Strype. Of course I chose to leave out quite a bit but if there is anything you’re just dying to know about him leave me a comment! I just may let you in on more secrets!
