I thought I would share a little bit from my Grimm Fairy Tales ee-telling of The Iron Stove, Love Locked (tentative title).
As a challenge posted by Decadent Publishing to re-tell a Grimm Fairytale of their choosing I was given The Iron Stove. Needless to say I have spent most of my allotted six months TRYING (unsuccessfully) to come up with an idea. I’ve finally done so with the help of my favourite sister-in-law and am now getting it ready to submit.
So, wish me luck and enjoy this snippet.
In this snippet we meet the main character in this short story Amara, a thief. Not just any old crook, a magical one, her witchy powers give her that edge every criminal wishes they possessed.
With one last glance around she opened the window and climbed out onto the fire escape where a broom leaned against the building. She looked to the sky,
“This is kismet.” She thought aloud and picked up the broom.
“Fugite.” With one word the broom sprang into animation, holding tight Amara allowed it to lift her into the night air and across the street. She stood on the roof of the adjacent building as the sun rose over the horizon. Dropping the broom she looked up and took in a deep breath.
“Good morning, mister sun.” She said while she sauntered to the staircase.
Hope you enjoyed this tease!
